There has been so much hype around Micellar cleansing water products with most brands being hard to get in the States primarily found in France. The most popular being Bioderma ($13.95, 250ml) which gets rave reviews for removing even the most stubborn makeup including waterproof mascara. I have not tried Bioderma as it has only recently become available in the U.S. at beautilish.com, so I cannot speak for its claims.
When I saw that the Simple brand had brought out a Micellar Water ($6.99, 6.7 fl.oz/198 ml), I had to give it a try. I found mine at Target.
The Simple Cleansing Micellar Water claims to be a gentle and thorough. It also claims to leave the skin hydrated while cleansing and unplugging your pores. The best part is you do not have to rinse your face.
My thoughts. While I find that it removes light makeup, I do not find that it removes all of my eye shadow and mascara. I do find the product hydrating and it is gentle. Although I was hoping this would be an easy cleanser for a lazy evening, it is not. That being said, I have found good uses for the product. Most evenings I use a cleansing oil but I find that it leaves residue on my face and the Simple product removes that and makes my face feel great. It is also a wonderful product in the mornings to use to refresh the skin. I may not be using it for its intended purpose but I do recommend the Simple Cleansing Micellar Water as long as you don’t expect it to remove everything on a heavy makeup day.
